Maeving. a start-up business based in Coventry, was formed in 2017 by Seb Inglis-Jones and Will Stirrup with the intention of designing a retro-styled British-built electric bike. A major USP with this innovative two-wheeler was the use of swappable batteries to take the competition to the Chinese-built models.
This new company now employs a 16-strong team of mainly ex-Triumph engineers and the firm’s first model, the RM1, is now on the market. Currently it is only available to buy directly from Maeving via their website and delivered to your door, Maeving won’t have any dealer network as such. If it works for Tesla.......
They will, however, be opening pop-up shops from time to time and they have recently anoounced their latest one in London at 10 Gee's Court, W1U1JJ.
Although it's a proudly British firm, as is the way with much vehicle manufacturing these days the company has reached out to some big names for the main electric components. The hub-mounted electric motor has been built by Bosch, while the battery is supplied by Samsung, both companies having been heavily involved technically supporting Maeving from the outset,
Maeving have now added a new model, the RM1S, to their current line-up.
